Share A Story...
BEGINNINGS!

What IS Share a Story?
The national Kappa Delta Sorority adopted Girl Scout Councils throughout the nation (www.kappadelta.org/Community/GirlScouts.htm). GSSJC was the home of Joan Lowery Nixon, internationally acclaimed author and member of the Kappa Delta Day Alumnae Group. This group adopted GSSJC and developed the Share a Story program with Nixon (Form F-131). The ‘how to’ guide Nixon wrote just for GSSJC girls and the Share a Story Council Patch Program will be on the Council Web site this fall and distributed to troop leaders at the October event.
At this event girls will learn how to make pop up cards, get inspired by talking to a real, published author, and learn the craft of writing from a professional!

Girls earn this special
program patch when they:

* write and illustrate a children’s book on a  topic of    their choice.
* read that book to a group of local children of  their    choice.
* donate it to the Ben Taub Hospital library for    child patients.
