Art in the Park

Six Flags AstroWorld is teaming up with the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council and the Boy Scouts of Sam Houston Area Council for Art in the Park, a fun new event for Scout Day 2005, where artwork created by the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts will be unveiled at a special ceremony on Scout Day (October 1) and displayed inside the park during the entire 2006 season!
Experts in the field of art will instruct Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts in various painting techniques, then kids will have a chance to put what they’ve learned into action and create a masterpiece to be displayed for thousands to see! Girl Scouts may count this activity towards the “Visual Arts” Interest Project, or the “Visual Arts” or “Drawing and Painting” Badge.
Join us at one of two Art in the Park workshops being held in September to create your artwork. Availability is on a first come first serve basis, so register now!

Pioneer Day

What was life like for early East Texas settlers? How did they survive without modern day conveniences such as refrigerators, gasoline-powered vehicles or electricity? What would they do for entertainment? Find out at the annual Pioneer Day where visitors of all ages can enjoy a variety of folk music and demonstrations, try their hand at seldom-seen crafts and skills, sample old-fashioned foods and enjoy many other activities.
