TSA Girls receive awardBeing presented with The Spirit Alive medal by Archbishop Joseph A. Fiorenza and Msgr. William Young, Girl Scout Chaplain of the Archdiocese of Galveston Houston, are Senior Girl Scouts Nicole C., Mary F., Tracy N. and Michelle W. The Spirit Alive is the highest religious recognition attainable by Catholic Girl Scouts. In addition, Nicole C., Mary F., Tracy N. and Alexandra C., to the far right, had also received the Gold Award which made them eligible to be presented with The Bishop’s Gold. The Bishop’s Gold is presented in recognition of the dedication and committment required for a Senior Girl Scout to earn both The Spirit Alive and the Girl Scout Gold Award. Alexandra received The Spirit Alive last year and because she graduated from high school a year early, she was still eligible to complete the requirements for the Gold before she turned 18. Michelle is scheduled to complete the Gold this year. Leaders Laurie Dawson, Rose Murnane, and John Almquist were presented the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton medal acknowledging significant contributions to the spiritual development of Catholic Girl Scouts while embodying the values inherent in the Girl Scout program. St. Thomas More parish, with Fr. Bill Young as Pastor and Laurie Dawson as Parish Representative, received the Bishop’s Trophy for outstanding contributions of service to the church, community, and family and continued progress in their own spiritual development.
