Photographs of girl scouts at various events and some girl scout membership pins - Girl Scout Values and Traditions

Every Girl Scout is part of a great history dating back to 1912 when Juilette Gordon Low founded the organization in Savannah, Georgia. In the Twenty-first century, Girl Scouts carry on her legacy in their own unique way. There are new traditions that girls have started over the years, just as there are old ones that everyone holds dear. But one thing remains constant – Girl Scouts of confidence, courage, and character continue to make the world a better place.

What’s your favorite Girl Scout tradition?

My favorite Girl Scouts tradition is cookie time because I like talking on the phone saying, “Hi it’s COOKIE TIME!!! This is Gabrielle Barnett and you ordered (how ever many they ordered) boxes of cookies last year and I would like to know if you would order that many or more this year. Thank You bye.” Another part is going door to door delivering them, setting my goal, and going to the ceremony to see my mom scream with excitement because I reached my goal.

The best tradition in Girl Scouting is the investiture ceremony. My mom says its a rededication to being a better person.

Whenever you get to sell the cookies. I like going door to door because you get to ring the doorbells. An older Girl Scout went with me last year and she gave me her customers. This year I will take her twin sisters with me and give them my customers. It’s their first time this year.

I joined Girl Scouts in fourth grade and loved the circle we did and singing the make new friends song. We don’t do it anymore but it would be fun if we still did!

My favorite is making crafts for the holidays and taking them to the people and singing or doing something else for them. Last year we adopted the Fairmont House. I also like just visiting and chatting.

My favorite tradition is going to Girl Scout Day at AstroWorld. I always have fun with my family. I’ve been going since I was a first year Brownie seven years ago. I always watch the Green Starlettes and now I go and perform with the Green Starlettes.

My favorite thing is going camping at the Girl Scout camps. It’s fun and you get to eat s’mores. Sometimes we go hiking and have a campfire. In the cabins, we stay up and tell stories.
