Center
Experience first hand how Armand Bayou Nature Center is working
to preserve the wetlands prairie, forest, and marsh habitats
surrounding Armand Bayou. Visit this astonishingly beautiful
part of the Texas Gulf Coast and “reconnect with nature.”
Visitors can learn about our plant and animal inhabitants,
bird-watch, hike on the Nature Center’s trails or view
our live animal displays of snakes, spiders, hawks, and bison
(courtesy of www.abnc.org).

Overnight Camping at Armand Bayou Nature
Center for Juniors
Explore the trails with the nocturnal animals through a guided
night hike, gaze at the stars though the Gary L. Kraus telescope
with Ron Rosenwald (a member of the Johnson Space Center Astronomical
Society), and roast marshmallows over an open fire with friends
and family. Indoor camping provided in the auditorium/classroom
or tent camping near May’s Pond.

Directions: Take Hwy 59 South to Crabb
River Road Exit. Go left and stay on this road (FM 762)
about 15 miles until park entrance. Turn left at blinking
yellow light to stay on FM 762 or take Hwy 288 South
to the FM 1462 Exit at Rosharon. Go right about 15 miles
to FM 762. Turn right on FM 762 and go about a mile
to the park entrance.
Note: Badges are not included for
any of these workshops. They may be purchased at any
Girl Scout shop. An optional $3 patch is available from
the Challenger Center

Junior Overnight Programs
On Friday earn a badge, look through telescopes (weather
permitting) and take a night hike around Creekfield
Lake. On Saturday take a simulated space flight aboard
the SS Observer at the Challenger Learning Center. Girls
will need to bring simple no-cook snacks and breakfast.
Don’t miss out on this cool adventure.
