Product Sales
An Important and Traditional Experience for Girls

The success of San Jacinto Council’s Girl Scout Cookie and Fall Product Sale depends on girls and parents alike. Your daughter’s ultimate accomplishments depend on you. With your help, she will have the chance to truly experience this enriching opportunity. Help her set goals, participate in troop training together, go over the safety tips discussed during training, and review the Girl Scout Promise and Law to enhance her learning.

Proceeds from the cookie and nut program should represent a majority of the troop’s income for the year. Girl Scouting will help girls learn to manage money wisely. It is important for girls to be involved in the troop’s budgeting and overall financial process. Girls benefit from the results of their efforts, as their plans become reality.

Girls learn the importance of responsible money management, and they develop pride for paying their own way. Parents appreciate not being asked to “chip in” every time the troop has an expense or pays for an activity. Participation by your daughter in these money-earning activities will increase her decision-making, planning and goal setting skills. Being part of a troop that sets and follows a budget is a valuable learning experience for girls and leaders alike.

Families are a troop’s biggest helpers during the Cookie Sale Program. You can support girls and troops in many ways, including helping at cookie shops, volunteering to sort and deliver cookies, and collecting payments – or just giving girls a pat on the back for a job well done. Parents have the following responsibilities in the process:

  • Attend your troop’s cookie kickoff meeting.
  • Sign and turn in the Parent Permission and Responsibility
    Form.
  • Sign receipts when you receive cookies from the troop cookie
    manager.
  • Obtain receipts when you pay for cookies.
  • Keep cookies in an appropriate environment (cool and dry).
  • Be responsible with cookie money, and turn it in to the troop on time.
  • Be a role model for your daughter – follow the rules and your
    daughter will, too.

Girl Scouting is possible only through the support of parents like you. Thank you for helping your daughter participate in the 2006 Cookie Program and Girl Scouts.
