Elizabeth C. and Ashley R. have completed the requirements to earn the Junior Bronze Award. These girls completed two badges, earned their Junior Aide Award and Sign of the Star and also completed 15 community service hours at the Bay Area SPCA. During their 15 hours, they spent eight hours cleaning swimming pools, pulling weeds, sweeping, and stripping and repainting the hand rail. The last eight hours were spent building a 16’ x 16’ dog shade in the front two yards. They worked from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m . The girls fetched supplies, refreshments, and assisted in any way possible while the holes were dug and frame built for the shade. Without the very generous donation of supplies from the Lowe’s store at I-45 and Bay Area Blvd. and the support of families and the Saturday morning SPCA workers, Elizabeth and Ashley would not have been able to complete this project. The girls are proud of this shade and hope the Bay Area SPCA dogs enjoy it for a long time!

A group of Senior Girl Scouts met at a Borders Bookstore on August 27 to work on the Public Relations Interest Project Award. Members of the Houston Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America were on hand to help the girls earn the award. Future workshops are planned.
