Girl Scout Interest Groups have something for everyone

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be rich? To own a herd of horses or a bunch of sailboats? How about having a lot of beautiful property, including 8 camps? What would it be like to have many friends from all over the council? How fun would it be to step out and try new and exciting things that your troop or family may not be interested in? As a member of the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council you are rich in opportunities!

How, you ask? You can simply join one of our many Special Interest Groups. GSSJC has a variety of Interest Groups which are fun, exciting, and challenging – representing a variety of opportunities for you no matter what your age.

These opportunities are planned and led by the volunteers and staff of the GSSJC Program Department. The program coordinator is volunteer Marion Hazen and the program director is Linda Pau.

Listed here is a sample of GSSJC Interest Groups.

Not only is backpacking a great way to keep fit, but it is also a great way for novice backpackers to gain skills and to meet more people who share the same interests and love for the outdoors. Girls age 11 through adults can participate in the backpacking program.

Troops or groups camping at Camps Silver Springs, Agnes Arnold, Robinwood, or Misty Meadows have priority placement for “Weekend Camper Riding” sessions and can take a trail ride or work in the ring. However, girls do not have to be camping to ride. Girls 13 years of age or older can become SPURS (Super People Using Riding Skills) and be involved with the equitation program. There are also opportunities during resident camp for third year Brownies-Seniors.
