Shutterbugs 1 and 2
(Fun black and white photography)
Shutterbugs is a special interest group for girls in grades
7-12 who want to learn composition of photography, creativity,
and how to develop their own pictures in a dark room. In the
future, these girls might be a part of a group that supports
the Communications Department, taking pictures in their troop,
service unit, or at council events. These girls might also
help teach photography to other girls.
Who: Girls in grades 7-12
What:
Shutterbugs 1: Learn basic photography composition
and to develop pictures in the lab.
Shutterbugs 2: (For girls who have completed
Shutterbugs 1, and have since been practicing photography
for at least 6 months.) Learn more advanced photography composition,
and develop even more pictures!
Where: Camp Agnes Arnold
Cost:
Shutterbugs 1: $25 per girl
Shutterbugs 2: $30 per girl
Deadline: 2 weeks prior to the session
Bring: 35 mm camera (please label), one yard
of cotton fabric, permission slip, medical form, personal
gear for a campout, rain poncho, stuffed animal, and your
own food for the weekend (mess kit for cooking food, cup,
plates, utensils, etc.). Please make your meals simple; we
don’t want to spend all of our time cooking.
Provided: Film for your camera, chemicals,
and paper to develop some of your pictures.

Times:
Friday – check in at 8 p.m. (Eat before arrival)
Sunday – check out at 4 p.m.

Rock Climbing
Join other Girl Scouts at the new Texas Rock Gym for hours
of fun, games and climbing madness. Girls, leaders and parents
can come and “hang-out” at the brand new facility
and learn the proper climbing and belaying techniques needed
to enjoy this thrilling sport.
Who: Brownies (ages 7 and up) - adults

When:
Saturdays: November 12, January 28, February 18, or April
15;
10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Bring: All participants must wear tennis
or indoor climbing shoes. Bring Girl or Adult Permission
Slip (F-204) and Medical
Release (F-185) as well as Texas Rock Gym Waiver Release
form. Texas Rock Gym forms will be mailed upon confirmation
of the session. Please bring the completed forms with you
on the day of the event.
Min./Max. 21/60; Ratio: 1 adult per 4 girls
Cost: $12.50 per climber; No charge for Belayers.

Note: Adults attending will be expected
to belay participants. Instructors are not provided for climbing.
Harnesses will be provided and participants will receive all
belaying and climbing instructions at time of arrival. Suggested
one adult per four girls to allow for adequate climbing time.

Indoor Rock Climbing Lock-In
Girl Scouts help celebrate the new and improved Texas Rock
Gym facility during this fun filled overnight event. Girls
(and leaders) can climb to their hearts content on the new
boulders, higher climbing walls and awesome overhangs.
Who: Girl Scouts 11-17
Where: Texas Rock Gym located 1526 Campbell
Rd., Houston.
When: Saturday night, November 19
Check in 10:30 p.m.; Climbing starts at 11
p.m.;
Check out: 7 a.m. Sunday November 20
Bring: Sleeping bag, pillow, change of clothes,
PJ’s,
toiletry items, snack food, drinks, breakfast items. (Meals
are not provided. Snack and drink machines are available.)
Also bring Adult and Girl Permission
Slip (F-204) and Medical
Release (F-185) as well as Texas Rock Gym Waiver Release
