Resource Kits for Troops

The GSSJC Program Department’s volunteers and staff have developed resource kits for troop program enhancement. Check out any of the following resource kits to aid your girls in earning GSUSA or GSSJC awards, learn about Girl Scouting and/or learn more about themselves and the world. Resource kits are available from the Girl Scout Center, 3110 Southwest Freeway in Houston unless otherwise noted.

How to register for use of these kits:

  • Complete the Program Registration Form.
  • Check ‘Other’, write in the event code and complete each line.
  • The event date is the date you would like to pick up the kit.

pizza sliceGirl Scout Silver Award Pizza Party

GSSJC’s Program Department developed the troop “Girl Scout Silver Award Pizza Party” resource kit for girls 11-14 who are working toward the Girl Scout Silver Award and want access to the required resources in a cost effective way.

The kit is filled with the following materials in an easy-to-carry-and-store pizza box:

  • Two STUDIO 2B Focus Books which are required resources for the Silver Leadership Award/ Silver 4B’s Challenge
  • Advisor Tips for helping girls get the most from the activities;
  • Goal setting activity to help girls with this important step
  • Tips for selecting a project that is appropriate and uniquely hers
  • Interest projects (IP) from other Girl Scout councils with instructions on ordering their respective awards
  • “Scavenger Hunt” and businesswomen profiles game for girls to play/learn the difference between leadership/service hours
  • “Pizza Entrepreneur” game (for “Your Own Business” IP of Career Award)
  • Master copy of the forms associated with the award

Note: Service units: consider purchasing one for checkout within your service unit, or use the kit to hold a special “Silver Award Lock-in” for Girl Scouts 11-14!

Junior Badge in a Box

The Program Department is now offering resource boxes to girls/troops wanting to complete certain badges. The following GSUSA Badge in a Boxes are available:

  • Jeweler
  • Science Sleuth
  • Drawing and Painting
  • Girl Scouting Around the World
  • Visual Arts

Each box lists complete directions for fulfilling each requirement as stated in the Junior Girl Scout Handbook. They contain books, charts, examples, and lesson plans to help your girls successfully earn the badge.

See above for instructions on how to order. You may keep them for up to four weeks. Please remember that other girls may be waiting for the box. Your $25 deposit will be fully refunded upon complete return of the box.
