Houston Museum of Natural Science
Girl Scout Holiday Tree

The Houston Museum of Natural Science annually invites organizations to decorate a tree for their lobby. Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council troops have decorated a special Girl Scout tree for several years!

It’s time to begin planning our holiday decorations. This is a wonderful opportunity for girls to be creative and design an ornament around a specific theme to be placed on a tree hundreds of museum visitors will enjoy!

The 2005 Ornament Theme is “Romancing the Stone”
(Jewels, Jungle, Birds, Waterfalls)

Let your imagination run wild!

Ornaments:

  • Should reflect the theme (listed above) in some way.
  • Can be designed by each troop member.
  • Can have any size or shape.
  • Are not returned, so make an extra one to keep.
  • Should never be decorated with food items. (This is a health and safety issue.)

The coordinator of the GSSJC Holiday Tree is Anne Grzanka. Ornaments are due to the GSSJC Program Department, 3110 Southwest Freeway, no later than 3 p.m. on Monday, November 28, 2005. Thank you to membership managers who bring ornaments turned in at a service unit meeting to the Council office. Ornaments can also be delivered to Anne’s home at 15803 Fern Basin Dr., Houston Texas 77084.

The Girl Scout Tree last year was so beautiful and very, very full. Anne will decorate the tree on Thursday, December 1, so please plan to visit the Museum to see the Girl Scout tree – a great field trip for the holidays.
