Junior Summer Leadership Day
Saturday, July 16, 2005

Train for the future! Are you new at working with Junior age girls or have you had at least one year working with Juniors? You will find trainings and information to spark ideas for the upcoming year. Register early! Classes fill fast.

Time: Check in begins at 8 a.m. First class begins promptly at 8:30 a.m.
Fee: $5 for the day of training

Place: Girl Scout Center, 3110 Southwest Freeway
Bring: Lunch, training record booklet. Soft drink and snack machine are available (60 cents)

Junior Program Leadership

Explore characteristics of the 9- to 11-year-old girl. Learn about the patrol system, become familiar with the Junior earned awards and discuss other fun program activities for your Junior troop. Required for leaders of Junior-age girls.
Prerequisite: Basic Leadership Training
Bring: Junio Leader Guide Book, Junior Handbook, Junior Badge Book, Safety-wise

Group Leader’s Training
Are you working with a multi-level group? Learn how to plan program so both Brownies and Juniors can work together on similar projects. Course includes a valuable resource that compares Brownie try-its with Junior badges.

Juniors: The Second Year and Beyond

What is this thing called STUDIO 2B? What can I do to challenge my girls? How do I change with my girls? Jump out of the past and into the future with advice, tips and tons of information on how to keep your Juniors on the cutting edge.
Prerequisite: Basic Leadership Training; Junior Program Leadership and one year working with a Junior age troop.

For all members of the leadership team and interested adults. Learn some old-time favorite songs plus quiet and active games for Junior-age girls.

“Staying Safe:” Preparing Juniors for Safety Issue

Discover ways to use scenarios, stories and role-playing to discuss safety topics with Juniors. Topics include staying safe at home, school, community, the Internet and much more. Many of the activities in this workshop follow GSUSA’s Staying Safe program.

By Juniors For Juniors

Juniors need support from adults to help them develop leadership skills. Juniors want to begin to take ownership and responsibility for the operation of the troop activities. Learn tips to take Juniors from making suggestions to planning and carrying out those ideas. Includes how to plan and carry out a badge using the by girls for girls approach.

Ceremonies for Juniors

Learn about the purpose and importance of Girl Scout ceremonies. Workshop includes ideas for flag ceremonies, investitures, bridging, Scouts’ Own, and more. These ceremonies are designed for the Junior Girl Scout and are not covered during the program level training.
