Daisy and Brownie Summer Leadership Day
Tuesday, July 19

A day filled with trainings for adults who work with Daisy and Brownie age girls. Whether you will be a new or an experienced leader, you will find a training or two to fit your needs. Take advantage of this special summer training day just for you.

Time: Check in begins at 8 a.m. First class begins promptly at 8:30 a.m.
Fee: $5 for the day of training

Place: Girl Scout Center, 3110 Southwest Freeway
Bring: Lunch, training record booklet. Soft drink and snack machine are available (60 cents)

Daisy Program Leadership
Discover characteristics of Daisy-age girls and learn ways the girls can earn the Promise Center and Learning Petals. Learn how to finance and govern a Daisy troop. Required for Daisy leadership and beneficial for other interested adults.
Prerequisite: Basic Leadership Training

Brownie Program Leadership
Learn about working with Brownie-age girls, the Brownie Ring (troop government), try-its, and other program activities. Required for Brownie Girl Scout leadership and beneficial for other interested adults.

Brownie Enriched Leadership Program
Enrich your troop’s program experience by reviewing characteristics of the 8- to 9-year-old girl. Learn to encourage girl problem-solving, prepare for bridging to Juniors, and share ideas with trainers and other experienced leaders.
Prerequisite: BLT, Brownie Program Leadership and one year experience working with Brownies.

Overnights, Not Campouts!
Lots of troops prefer to have an overnight sleepover before (or instead of) trying the great out-of-doors, but an overnight still needs planning to be fun. Learn some creative ways to make it more than just another slumber party.

Let’s Talk “Staying Safe” with Daisies and Brownies
Explore fun activities and ways to discuss safety with your troop in this workshop. Topics will include staying safe at home, school, community, the Internet and much more. Many of the activities in this workshop follow GSUSA’s Staying Safe program.

By Brownies For Brownies

Brownies need managing and guidance from adults. Brownies want to be involved in choosing and setting goals for their troop. They want a say in how things will be done. You can build girls’ skills from making choices and options to making decisions and participating in planning. Includes how to plan and carry out a try-it using the by girls for girls approach.

First Steps in Outdoor Exploration
An introduction to beginning outdoor experiences. Explore the resources available - not only in the Council, but also in the community. Familiarize yourself with outdoor basics, such as what to wear, outdoor manners, and walking softly on the

land. Learn what steps to take and in what order, how to plan a day outdoors both on and off Council property as well as the forms needed to do that.

Ceremonies for Daisy and
Brownie Girl Scouts

Ceremonies play an important part in Girl Scouting. Learn ways to include flag ceremonies, investitures, bridging, and Scouts’ Own into Daisy and Brownie troop program. Leave with ideas to share with girls.

Cinderella Stories From Many Lands
There is a little bit of Cinderella in everyone, regardless of economic, social, cultural, or racial backgrounds. This training is full of activities (instant program) for your girls. Includes correlations between the activities and earned awards.

Special Whatchamacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere or Share With A Pal, S.W.A.P.S. are fun handmade items that girls and adults can share as a sign of friendship. Create and learn about some great swap ideas to share with your girls.
