Spring means new things at Council

March, the month of the vernal equinox, is the time for new beginnings – whether it is baby bunnies, buds on the trees, or new and exciting happenings for Girl Scouts of San Jacinto.
As I write this we eagerly anticipate meeting with the designers/architects who will have the initial plans for the new building at 3000 Southwest Freeway. A committee of volunteers and staff who have worked for several months giving input to the project are looking forward to a “WOW” factor to mark the place where we see the future for our girl members.
This month the delegates will receive their mailings for the Spring Council Meeting. We will be electing new officers and members of the board of directors and delegates to the National Convention to be held in October in Atlanta, GA. The national delegates will be participating in the first meeting with the new CEO of GSUSA, Kathy Cloninger. The National Board of Directors and the national staff have been busy with task groups who have been studying various issues pertinent to
the organization. These issues will be unveiled at the convention with the new strategic priorities and a mission statement.
In our own Council, volunteers, staff, board members, and community leaders have just completed the Council Performance Assessment. Resulting insights will give us direction and new priorities for the next four years. We will be sharing these with you along with the new mission statement for our Council.
The Capital and Endowment Campaign is offering wonderful opportunities for our Council by providing new facilities and funds for maintenance and scholarships. I’m sure that your troop has decided to participate and that you are planning right now how you will contribute to the renovation at Robinwood.
New building! National Convention! New strategies and priorities! New Mission Statement! Capital and Endowment Campaign! It’s spring in Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council and we are looking forward to many new opportunities and new beginnings.

The Spring Council Meeting is April 9

All delegates need to attend.
