Girl Scout Silver Award Pizza Party
Are girls in your
troop or group working toward the Girl Scout Silver Award?
Looking for tips and resources to help them earn the components?
Want access to the required resources in a cost effective
way?
The Program Department will be rolling
out a troop “Girl Scout Silver Award Pizza Party”
resource kit filled with the following materials:
- Two Focus Books (required resources for part
of the Silver Leadership Award and Silver 4B’s Challenge)
and Advisor Tips for helping your girls get the most out
of the activities
- Goal setting activity to give the girls the
tools they’ll need for this important piece of the
entire Silver Award AND tips for helping an individual girl
pick a Girl Scout Silver Award Project that is both appropriate
and uniquely “hers”
- Reproducible Interest Projects (IPs) from
councils around the country, with instructions on ordering
the respective badges (IPAs) from sister councils (not GSSJC)
- “Career Scavenger Hunt” (for
part of the Silver Career Award)
- An interactive game for girls to play and
learn the difference between leadership and service hours
- “Pizza Entrepreneur” game (to
help meet the requirements for the our Own Business Interest
Project portion of the Silver Career Award)
- Reproducible master copy of the forms associated
with the Girl Scout Silver Award
These materials
will be in an easy-to-carry-and-store pizza box (what else?)
and will provide hours of fun and learning for your girls!
The cost for each “Silver Award Pizza Party” resource
kit will be $25.
Service units: think about purchasing
one for checkout within your service unit, or use the kit
to hold a special “Silver Award Lock-in” for Girl
Scouts 11-14!
Troops/groups and individuals have the
option to ‘rent’ the materials over a 6-week period
for $10 rental fee and a refundable $15 deposit once materials

 Minute
Maid Park has been home to the Houston Astros since
the stadium’s completion in 2000. Located
in downtown Houston at Union Station, Minute Maid
Park has received many local, state and national
awards for its design and engineering. Built to
reflect Houston’s historical relationship
with the railroads, it features a vintage, full
size locomotive that runs along 800 feet of track
on the left field wall.
Educational
tours can include:
- Time in the Learning Center
playing interactive games and researching the
history of Major League Baseball in the United
States
- Tour the historic Union Station,
broadcasting booths, press boxes or luxury suites.
- On field tour and visit the
Astros or visitors dugout box.
- Research the history and try
on team uniforms and playing equipment.
- View how professionals manufacture
balls and bats.
All tours listed are private to
Girl Scout troops and their families. There must
be at least one adult for every 10 girls.
The tour will involve walking a
distance of one mile and may include stairs and
ramps. Tours are wheelchair and stroller accessible.
Girl Scouts must bring permission slip and medical
form.
