Junior
Troop #3870 from Towering Pines Service Unit in Kingwood,
is a large group of 22 girls, four of which are from their original
Daisy troop. This year they joined a sister troop and added
five more girls at rally! Their super energetic leader, Linda
Sue Laird, really enjoys camping and already they have had a
huge slumber party, an awesome campout at Camp Robinwood, and
another campout in February! The girls enjoy working in patrols
and on their Junior badges. This year they helped out with Brownie
Fun Day and are assisting other troops earn their Junior Aid
Badge. Leadership team: Linda Sue Laird, Donna Margiolos,
Jennifer Guerra-Prats, Melissa Gutierrez |
Brownie
Troop #12146 from Bluebonnet Meadows Service Unit has
been together for three years. They are fourth graders, representing
five different Cy-Fair schools. These new Juniors enjoy arts
and crafts, science experiments (especially if they are messy!)
and anything they can do outdoors. A favorite field trip was
to NASA Space Center. Last year they discovered camping. This
troop is successful because everyone gets along so well and
the parents offer enthusiastic support. Troop #12146 plans to
continue in Girl Scouts until they are Seniors! Leadership

Troops weren’t the only winners of early
registration incentives. Service units re-registering 80% of
their troops were entered into a special drawing
for some very special prizes. The winners were announced at
the Membership Development Conference in July, including:
Brooks Bayou Service Unit, which savored a trip to dessert heaven,
sweets for the sweet, with a program presentation, served by
the Program Department at a monthly leader meeting.
Westmoreland Service Unit, which relished a yummy mini-training
with appetizer at a monthly leader meeting presented by the
Adult Development Department.
LaPorte Service Unit, which dined on an epicurean’s delight
dinner dished-up by the Membership Department at its January
leader meeting.
Early bird registration is right around the corner. Decide now
to fly high and re-register your troop for another great year
in Girl Scouting! |
Let us hear from you...
The Membership Development Conference
has provided fun, learning and sisterhood in San
Jacinto Council for 14 years. Do you remember
the workshops, hospitality suites, late-night
slumber parties, door prizes, interactive booths,
entertainment, speakers, meals, and laughter?
GSSJC would love to hear about some of your most
vivid memories of MDC. As many replies as possible
will be included in the May issue of the Golden
Link. Remember to include your name and troop
number. Send to Kathy Denton, kdenton@sjgs.org. |
