| Patricia organized a health awareness
day for younger Girl Scouts to learn to be healthier individuals
and earn the Women’s Health Badge. They did many activities
at the event, heard from a guest speaker, and presented what
they’d learned to the group. She also held a donation
drive to help the Katy Christian Ministries Domestic Abuse Center. |
Carolyn helped assemble 30 care baskets.
Each contained a stuffed animal, coloring book, crayons, and
numerous games and trinkets. She also coordinated the donation
of 430 children’s books and a bookshelf to the pediatric
floor at Christus St. Catherine Hospital. “It is a joyous
feeling to extend kindness to others and meet an organization’s
need,” she says. |
Joanna taught troops and community members how
to knit and had them make baby sweaters, socks, scarves, and
teddy bears to donate to The Bridge, a women’s shelter
in Pasadena. She also maintained a Web site to provide knitting
information and instructions to the public. |
| Kerry was the co-director, registrar and activities
coordinator for a weeklong Girl Scout Twilight Camp. (*Project
was approved prior to January 2004 ruling that all Gold Award
projects must be outside of Girl Scouting.) She
scheduled the Klein Fire department to bring their fire truck.
The girls dressed up, rang the bell and of course, sprayed the
fire hose. Ranger Nancy from Jesse Jones Park also brought various
animals and discussed how they adapted to their environment. |
Christina Nikole created a teen ministry for
her church consisting of five bible studies. Her project addressed
the major issue of the lifestyle of a Christian. It consisted
of bible studies. “My Gold Award Project proved to be
one of tremendous spiritual growth for me. Teens as well as
their parents asked me to continue leading Sunday school.” |
