               2005 Girl Scout Cookie Sale

Don’t spoil a good cookie sale with a bad debt

If this were a perfect world, there would be no dreaded “T3 forms.” They are those pesky forms that need to be filled out when a parent of a girl who sold cookies or a troop product sale manager does not pay all the money that is due to the Council.
But this isn’t a perfect world and unfortunately, GSSJC has to deal with uncollected debts. GSSJC’s bad debt list is a compilation spanning several years of money that is owed to the Council for fall products and cookies. It is surprising to some folks that the list has so many names, but keep in mind that the Council collects 99% of the sale each year! The Council’s Finance Committee approves the specific collection processes for debts annually; and the Council vigorously pursues collection of all outstanding debts. These can vary based upon the size of the debt, but can include such measures as using collection attorneys and filing suit to reporting the debt to credit bureaus.
There are also procedures in place to prohibit any individual with an outstanding debt from serving in any leadership capacity within GSSJC. Unfortunately, the daughter of a parent who has a bad debt may not participate in product sales. So, please help GSSJC make this the “perfect world” Cookie Sale by turning in your money on time and assist the girls and the parents in your troop to do the same. GSSJC would really like to stop needing the T3 forms.
