EarthPACT
Would you like
to work with Girl Scouts at a Sanctuary, in a Zoo, at a Park,
in a Museum, at a Nature Center or simply in the Outdoors?
Does planning Earth Day 2006 sound like fun?
If you answered “YES,”
then continue reading to find out about EarthPACT.
EarthPACT is a leadership opportunity
for Girl Scouts 11-17 who are interested in the environment,
conservation and animals. The primary purpose of EarthPACT
is to give Girl Scouts hands-on experience working at a conservation
site while they mentor Brownies and Juniors who come to the
sites to earn their try-its and badges.
During the 2005-2006 season,
EarthPACT will also involve new opportunities for girls to
make an impact on the environment with projects like planning
2006 Earth Day, participating in Trash Bash, attending Adopt-A-Beach
and more.
EarthPACT applications are submitted
to GSSJC. Once selected, all EarthPACT members will need to
complete Basic Program Aide training, which is available through
GSSJC multiple times throughout the year. In addition, each
EarthPACT site has different specialty training dates. Once
the girls are placed with a site, the scout coordinator at
each site will coordinate the trainings and subsequent meetings.
Some girls may decide to participate in the planning board
aspect of EarthPACT rather than be placed at a specific site.
They will also need to complete Basic Program Aide training,
but specialty training is not required.
Still interested? Return the
application below by June 30, 2005 along with two letters
of recommendation from people that are not members of your
family to Julie Deeter, Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council,
3110 Southwest Freeway, Houston, TX 77098. For more information,
contact Julie, Program Manager, at 713-292-0203, 800-392-4340
