     Naturalists will lead Girl Scouts through activities to complete requirements for the Wildlife Junior Badge. Girls will learn techniques to identify birds and reptiles, become familiar with characteristics of poison ivy and venomous snakes and Texas endangered animals through participation in hands-on activities, nature tours, demonstrations, a service project, and completion of a workbook.

WANTED: Earth Conscious Girl Scouts
If you are a Juliette or Girl Scout who has been busy working on activities that benefit the environment, we want to hear about it. Maybe you participated in a terrific conservation workshop or made a unique field trip to a little-known sanctuary.

Explore the trails with the nocturnal animals through a guided night hike, gaze at the stars though the Gary L. Kraus telescope with Ron Rosenwald (a member of the Johnson Space Center Astronomical Society), and roast marshmallows over an open fire with friends and family. Indoor camping provided in the auditorium/classroom or tent camping near May’s Pond.

George Observatory Offers Brownie Try-its!
Who: Brownies, ages 6-8
Where: Brazos Bend State Park, George Observatory
When: Space Explorer Try-it on Wednesday, August 10, 1-3:30 p.m.
Or Movers Try-it on Saturday, August 20, 1-3:30 p.m.
Bring: Permission slips (F204), medical forms (F-185), adult emergency form
(F-22), closed toe shoes, bug spray, troop first aid kit

Turn right on FM 762 and go about a mile to the park entrance.
