Quarter Notes Chorus

Girls love to sing. Girls in grades 4-6 are invited to sing in the venues where the Council is invited to perform. As girls learn to harmonize, they can progress to the GSSJC Take Note Council Choir when in 7th grade. Quarter Notes Chorus sponsored by the “Take Note” GSSJC Choir and led by Take Note Council Choir girl members.

Who: 4th-6th grade GSSJC Girl Scouts
Where: On the search for a free or affordable location to house up to 300 girls. Please e-mail Melinda Gaskill at mgaskill@sjgs.org with information.
When: Meeting “quarterly” to practice 
Cost: $10 annual program fee, (i.e. music, folders, T-shirt)
Register: No auditions. More information will be at the July Membership Development Conference and in the August issue of The Golden Link and the Council Information Network.

The United States Coast Guard
11th and 12th Grade Girl Scout Tour

GSSJC girls are invited to tour one or more of the exciting Southeast Texas Coast Guard units. Talk with women and men in this branch of the United States military to learn what they do, how they got there and why they decided to serve! Eat lunch in the galley only at the sea faring locations. Enjoy a 2-3 hour tour of these interesting sites. For locations visit www.uscg.mil or www.gocoastguard.com
Who: 11th and 12th grade Senior Girl Scouts
Where: Choice of units available (Coast Guard Unit Galveston, Houston Ship Channel,
or Sabine Pass/Port Arthur)
When: Wednesday, July 20 or Saturday, August 20; All tours begin at 10 a.m.
Min/Max: 10/25 per group
Cost: Donation of teddy bear(s) for local service project

Deadline: Registration to be received a minimum of two weeks prior to the tour date.

Note: Directions, parking, and other important details will be e-mailed to the troop leader/ chaperone two weeks prior to the tour. The galley is available at most sea faring locations and the meal cost is about $4 at the time of the tour.
