The Houston Museum of Natural Science invites GSSJC girls,
troops, and families to GEMS 2005 on Saturday, April 30, 9
a.m.-1 p.m. See the February issue of The Golden Link and
the Council Information Network (CIN) for event registration
information.
Troops wanting to host a booth can pick a topic from the
list on the left or come up with other ideas dealing with
math and science. Girl Scouts, Daisies - age 17, will be roaming
the magnificent Houston Museum of Natural Science. The sky’s
the limit!
Hint: Ideas can be found on the Internet, in the Girl Scout
handbooks, at your local library, at any museum, and in your
own imagination! Be sure and try a few sample activities in
your troop before you decide on greatest one to share in your
troop’s booth. Once decided – practice, practice,
practice!
Booths will be selected by a panel of judges to offer the
best variety of math and science experiences.
Details on the booths:
Booths will be 8’ x 5’. Troop signs and fun art
can decorate the front and sides. One table and two chairs
will be provided. There are no electrical outlets. Two girls
will staff the booth and one adult at all times. Troops can
have shifts to allow more girls the opportunity to participate
in other activities. Troops that desire a booth for only half
of the event time may “buddy up” with another
troop from their service unit. (Buddy registrations must be
sent in together.)
Additional instructions for booths will be included in your
booth host registration packet. |
