GSSJC Junior Girl Scout Badge Workshop
Hosted by Anadarko Petroleum, The Woodlands

What: Girls visit the Anadarko campus and explore the realm of math and science with fun, exciting hands-on activities and complete requirements for GSUSA Rocks Rock or Oil Up badges

Who: Junior Girl Scouts;
Safety-wise ratio of adult leaders/ volunteers;
Absolutely be no tagalongs.
Where: Anadarko Petroleum

When: Monday, February 21 (President’s Day)
Check in: 8 a.m.
Event: 8 a.m.-1 p.m.
Bring:

  • Completed Anadarko publicity release (sent w/ confirmation letter)
  • Completed GSSJC form F-204 for each girl*
  • Completed GSSJC form F-185 for each girl*
  • Copy of publicity release portion of the F-185 for Anadarko
  • Completed GSSJC form F-22) for adults
  • Girls wear their uniform or troop T-shirt, if available.
  • Lunches, drinks, snacks (eat following event)
  • Troop first aid kit (troop adult serves girls as first aider at event)
    *Remains with troop leader

Harris County Hospital District invites GSSJC girls to a Nursing Discovery Day!

Nurses are all around you, helping to provide ways for you to live a healthier life and caring for the ill. As you discover more about the profession and the valuable role nurses fill in the community, you may decide it is an interesting career path for you.


Who: Girls 11-17
Adult Safety-Wise ratio
No tagalongs or drop-ins
What: Hospital based experience with professional registered nurses and other medical professionals where girls earn GSSJC’s Council’s Own Nursing Discovery Interest Project.

Women in Science Career Panel

On Tuesday, January 25, the Gulf Coast Houston Chapter of the Association for Women in Science will be hosting its 3rd Annual Women in Science Career Forum, made up of women from various disciplines, focusing on those in the early stages of their career. The target audience will be high school students considering a career in science. The panel members will speak about their different disciplines, how they got there, and answer questions.
