Girl Scouts = Mad Scientists?

Through its innovative concept of “Edu-tainment,” Mad Science sparks the imagination and curiosity of children everywhere by providing fun, entertaining and exciting activities to instill a clearer understanding of what science is really about and how it affects the world around them. Join girls in special hour long Mad Science Workshops while earning GSUSA awards!

Who: GSSJC registered Brownie or Junior Girl Scouts
Safety-wise ratio of adults stay, absolutely be no tagalongs
Where: Girl Scout Center, 3110 Southwest Freeway, Houston, TX 77098
What: Girls complete requirements for GSUSA try- it/badges (specified below)
When: Sunday, January 23 2 p.m. or 3:30 p.m.

Brownie Try-it Science in Action OR Junior Badge Science Sleuth

Brownie Try-it Space Explorer OR Junior Badge Science Discovery
Bring:

  • Completed permission slip (GSSJC form F-204) for each girl*
  • Completed medical form (GSSJC form F-185) for each girl*
  • Completed adult emergency form (GSSJC form F-22) for adults
  • Girls wear their uniform or Troop t-shirt, if available.
  • Troop first aid kit (troop adult serves troop girls as first aider at event)
    *Remains with troop leader

Cost: $10/girl; free for Safety-wise ratio of adult leaders/volunteers who must stay

2005 University of Houston Career and Tech Day

The 2005 Career and Tech Day is designed by a Girl Planning Board to offer YOU an opportunity to visit the lovely University of Houston, speak with female professionals in a variety of careers, earn requirements for GSUSA awards, write or update personal resume, participate in a service project, learn about opportunities available for your future. Details online or in your copy on page 57 of the November/December issue of The Golden Link.

Career Close-up – explore MY favorite college majors!
An excellent way for girls to explore two of their selected majors up close and personal! Outstanding faculty and staff of the University of Houston take the girls through the challenges and rewards of their selected areas. There will be some walking between sessions on the beautiful UH campus, so please dress accordingly.
