Program Aide Specialties

The second step of the GSUSA Girl Leadership Program Aide training is a four hour Specialty training. Each council offers specialties appropriate for their area and the skills of the community partners and Girl Scout volunteers within the council.

Current GSSJC Program Aide Specialties are: Archery, Arts and Crafts, Backpacking, Canoeing, Ceremonies, Council Puppetry, Day Camp, Conservation (EarthPact), Equitation, Masks and Skits, Orienteering,
Outdoor Cooking, Outdoor Games,
Outdoor Skills, Sailing, Songs and Games,
Storytelling/Zink

Adult Volunteers

The Program Department welcomes adult volunteers or Girl Scouts (ages 15-17) who wish to train Program Aide Specialties. If any of the Specialties listed are your area of expertise, please contact Melinda Gaskill, Program Manager, 713-292-0232 or mgaskill@sjgs.org and she will share your name with the volunteer Council Program Aide Coordinator Julie Ullrich. You will be sent a Program Aide Facilitator Application.

Summer Program Aide
Specialty Weekend

Mark your calendars for June 2, 3, and 4, and plan to spend the weekend at Camp Robinwood! Spend the weekend at one of our great Council camps and take as many Program Aide Specialties as you’d like! Since Program Aide Core training will not be available that weekend, be sure to register for one offered through the Council (January 22, January 29, or April 2) or check out the Program Aide Resource Kit by contacting Myrna Monconduit, 713-292-0281, and complete this first step of the two step Program Aide training (Core/Specialty) within your troop/group or service unit.
