RESIDENT CAMP OPEN HOUSE

GSSJC has a super summer planned for Girl Scouts at resident camp this year. Open House is a great opportunity for prospective campers and parents to view our fantastic camps and facilities and ask questions to the camp staff who are there to help you.
Tour the camps and view accommodation and activity sites, find out about the large variety of meals served, talk with some of the returning camp staff, and meet the camp directors who will be overseeing Camps Agnes Arnold, Casa Mare, and Misty Meadows.
Each camp offers varied and exciting sessions every summer, so come and see which camp is best suited for your child. A parent, guardian or troop leader must accompany children attending Open House. There is no registration for Open House, however there will be a sign in sheet for all visitors. Please dress casually and wear comfortable closed-toe shoes (Camps Agnes Arnold and Misty Meadows only). Bring appropriate wet weather gear if necessary.
It is not necessary to have registered for resident camp to attend Open House. This day is for all prospective and returning campers, their parents and families.

Where: Camps Agnes Arnold, Casa Mare, and Misty Meadows
When: Sunday March 20
Noon-4 p.m., 2-3 p.m. question and answer session at each camp in the lodge/galley.
Note: Please leave all pets at home.

Be A Ready Camper Troop

Top Ten Reasons for your troop to become a Ready Camper Troop.

Reason #10. It is so great to go camping on Council property.

Reason #9. You’ll see so many different camps and stay in different types of facilities.

Reason #8. If you play it right, you can get a lot of reading done.

Reason #7. No yard work to do.

Reason #6. You meet the nicest people at Girl Scout camps.

Reason #5. The laundry will wait until you get home.

Reason #4. So many awards to work on in the outdoors.

Reason #3. It is more fun than watching TV.

Reason #2. So many things to do, so little time.

and the #1 reason for your troop to become a ready camper troop.

Reinforce the Girl Scout motto: Be Prepared

Are your girls able to put their camping gear together on short notice (like maybe 10 days or less)? Do you have a troop camp trained adult who can do the same? What about your first aid/CPR certified person? Have you camped on Council property at least once? Then have we got a deal for you.

Each month after the draw for camp placement occurs (that is the first Tuesday of each month) there is usually a list of open camp spaces that are available. It could be a tent unit at Camp Robinwood, a dorm at Camp Casa Mare, a cabin unit at Camp Misty Meadows or even the Fishing Village or the Treehouses in Tanglewood at Camp Agnes Arnold. How can I get involved and what is this, you ask? Answer: The Ready Camper program brought to you by the program department in cooperation with the registrars and facilities. There is even a patch. If you accept a space, pay the fee and attend camp, your troop is eligible to receive the coveted Ready Camper Patch. Please note, this patch cannot be purchased, it can only be earned.

Now you may ask, “How do I sign up for this?” Because you know that there is going to be a form. So what you do is go to the Web site (www.gssjc.org) and on the left, click on publications and forms button then go to form GSSJC F-631. Download the form and send it in to:
