2005 Girl Scout Cookie Sale

Cookie Shop Etiquette

Now that you have planned, made decorations, and ordered cookies, the day for your cookie shop has finally arrived.

What do you do? Live the Girl Scout Promise and Law!

  • Before you arrive at the shop, go to the bathroom.
  • Wear a uniform or Girl Scout T-shirt and membership pin.
  • Decorate your shop within the manager’s guidelines.
  • Have a minimum of two girls and two adults.
  • Be friendly and polite.
  • Smile!
  • Determine whether you will ask customers entering or exiting the business. All of the girls need to use the same approach so customers won’t be asked twice.
  • Always say “Thank You” whether they buy or not.
  • Have change and bags available.
  • Keep your area neat and clean.
  • You may offer samples if your troop is willing to pay for the cookies.
  • Clean the area when finished.
  • Recycle empty boxes.

What don’t you do?

  • Yell or talk loudly
  • Run around
  • Block doorways or displays
  • Have tagalongs
  • Have more than four girls unless you are covering more than two doors at a time
  • Go into the store while on duty

Lastly, don’t forget to thank the manager of the business. A homemade “Thank You” card is greatly appreciated–along with a package or two of cookies!

Chocolate Thin Mint Pizza Supreme

1 pkg (18 oz) refrigerated chocolate chunk cookie dough
1/2 pkg (17 cookies) Girl Scout Thin Mints
1/2 cup white chocolate morsels
Vanilla ice cream, optional

Press cookie dough evenly in the bottom of an ungreased 12-inch pizza pan or a 13x9x2-inch baking pan. (Dough will barely cover the pan.) Break Thin Mints into halves or thirds; press cookie pieces into dough, covering evenly. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 18 minutes or until golden brown. Place white chocolate morsels into a small self-closing bag. Microwave bag of morsels on MEDIUM HIGH (70% power) for 40 to 50 seconds or until melted. Snip one corner off the bottom of the bag. Hold bag tightly at top and drizzle white chocolate stripes over top of pizza. When cool, cut pizza into 8 or 10 wedges. If desired, top each serving with a scoop of ice cream. Makes 8 to 10 servings. Adult supervision required.
