Nursing home residents say thanks

Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council donated hundreds of games to nursing homes through the annual Six Flags AstroWorld service project and throughout the year. Council Service Project Coordinator Victoria Soto worked closely with Glenn Miller from the State of Texas Adopt a Nursing Home program to deliver hundreds of games throughout the Council over the past months. Girls can make a big difference in people’s lives. Adopt a Nursing Home Program Patch requirements are available on the Council Web site at www.gssjc.org and in the forms file, GSSJC form F-163. Here are some of the letters the Council received:

We thank you for the bag of gifts for our residents. They will be put to good use and enjoyed. You are welcome to come to visit us if any of you are ever in Humble. Please call me if you can make a visit. We will put you on our calendar. Come play these games with us. I was a Girl Scout way back in 1944-1950. We also enjoyed working on our projects.

Thank you so much for the great collection of games. The residents were excited about them. We quickly got into a game of checkers, which became an awesome social event. Thank you for thinking of us and we invite the girls to visit anytime, as they are a great group.
