6. With all the renovations to Camp Robinwood, what will be done about the noise heard from the Race Track nearby?
The Race Track was closed last year. Much to our surprise it is under new ownership and cars are racing again. The season is over for now. It runs March through October. Legally, there isn’t much the Council can do. They have been asked to be good neighbors and cut the racing off at midnight. GSSJC has been advised by the Willis sheriff’s department to call if that isn’t the case (racing stops at midnight) to register a complaint. This is the first step in trying to get the situation remedied. (The ranger or reserve ranger can place the call.) As we build new construction on our property there, certain considerations can be made to reduce the noise level (i.e. double glass panes for windows and other insulation materials in the framing that would muffle the sound). In the meantime, a meeting is being scheduled to discuss the Council’s ongoing concern and possible options with the new mayor of Willis, the county commissioner, the sheriff, our neighbor to the south of the camp, as well as a real estate developer. All parties have a keen interest in making the best of the current situation and to ensure that everyone’s rights are protected.

Robin’s revelations
* Sell 300 extra boxes of Girl Scout cookies, which equals a $150 troop bonus, enough to get a patch for each troop member!
* Plan now and pay later! Pledge your goal on the troop incentive form, hold your money-earning activity and turn in your money when you are done (before September 30, 2006, though!).
* Hold your money-earning activity April through July or in December!
* Challenge your sister troop to see just how much you can raise for Camp Robinwood. Rabbits love to run, so why not give them a run for the money?
