Fund Development
Supporters provide brighter futures for tomorrow’s leaders

The Fund Development/Brand Management Department solicits donations from corporations, foundations, and individuals to assure that Girl Scouting is available for all girls and to provide financial means for Girl Scout programs.
Supporters may honor others in Girl Scouting in several ways: donations to one of the Council’s many funds, an engraved brick on the Promise Path at Camp Agnes Arnold, or a plaque at Camp Casa Mare. Women may join The Emerald Circle, a social and service group, which supports Girl Scouting through its membership fees.
Donate on-line to any of the Council funds at www.gssjc.org.

Frequently Asked Questions about the
Celebrate Camp Robinwood Troop Campaign

Girls are so excited about Camp Robinwood and the Celebrate Camp Robinwood Troop Campaign that Robin has been answering a lot of questions about how to make the most of this two-year campaign. To free up some space in Robin’s e-mail box, here are the answers to some of the most common questions.

1. Do the Council guidelines on troop money-earning events apply for capital campaign efforts?
Yes, the Council guidelines on troop money-earning activities apply for capital campaign efforts. Follow the guidelines in the Resource Guide. Keep in mind that Daisy Girl Scouts are not allowed to participate in Council-sponsored product sales nor additional money-earning activities. The campaign runs for two years, so Daisy Girl Scouts will get a chance to participate when they become Brownies. Be thinking now how you will plan your budget because Brownie Girl Scouts are not allowed to participate in any additional money-earning activities outside of the Council sponsored product sales! For any level in Girl Scouting, no troop/group money earning activity can be conducted during the local United Way campaign, Fall Product Sale, or Cookie Sale. That means NO fund-raising or money-earning activities are allowed during the time periods of January through March and August through November.

2. Do foundations require girl fundraising in order for the Council to be eligible for grants?
National foundations do not require girl fundraising in order for the Council to be eligible for grants. But an important factor in their decision is whether the organization is backed by its board, staff, and in the case of Girl Scouts, girls, volunteers, and parents. When an organization’s members financially support its efforts, it sends a message that the people who know the most about the organization are committed to its important work.

3. Should troops increase their cookie sale goals?
This is a great way to accomplish the goal of giving to the troop capital campaign. It is up to them if they want to do this. For Brownie troops, this would be the only way to participate because of the Council’s guidelines.

4. Can a flyer be developed to pass out at cookie booths?
When performing a money-earning activity, it is common for troops to let people know why they are raising money. If you are going to create something to let people know about your troop’s efforts towards this campaign, please use the following guidelines: Girl Scouts and the name of the Council should be prominent on your information; please refer to the campaign as the “Celebrate Camp Robinwood Troop Campaign;” and most importantly, if you are going to raise funds for this project, make sure that all of your girls and parents are informed about the campaign so that they can answer questions.

5. If a service unit wanted to sponsor a fundraising component during an event, i.e. Service Unit Weekend, how can the appropriate troops get credit?
Service units could keep records of where the money is coming from (i.e. which troop) and turn in the total for each troop on the Celebrate Camp Robinwood Troop Campaign Donation Form. The form is located on the CIN.
