GSSJC Girl Program
Aide Specialty Course; Sailing, Canoeing, Swimming
These are the specialty course offerings the
girls need to take in order to earn their Program Aide Bar.
The Core course is offered just prior to these specialty courses.
Because this is an aquatic weekend, only the canoeing, sailing
and swimming specialty courses will be offered. This course
will enable program aides to assist instructors teaching the
various Red Cross canoeing, sailing, and swimming courses, as
well as helping where needed at an aquatic event with proper
supervisory personnel. If you assist at a later date with a
registered Red Cross course, you may also earn the Red Cross
Instructor Aide certificate for that particular specialty.

Basic Water Rescue
This Red Cross course provides individuals
with the information and skills necessary to prevent, recognize
and respond to water emergencies using non-swimming rescues.
Proper techniques to care for possible head, neck or back
injuries will be covered. This course will also prepare you
for water emergencies by teaching you how to protect yourself
while assisting others. It is highly suggested that all sailing
adults take this course. It is a great class for those desiring
to become certified pool watchers. It is the course recommended
by Safety-Wise. Portions of the Water Sports Interest Project
Patch are also covered in this course. This course will NOT
provide you with all the information and skills needed to
be a certified lifeguard.

hunt in the Goodykoontz library and memorabilia
room; and learning about Juliette Low’s
