Serving others at all time...

Troop #5652 decorated and filled Easter gift bags for Cypress Assistance Ministries senior citizen clients for the past nine years. This year several troops from their service unit helped out. The dental office of Drs. Phyllis and John Tuthill provided toothbrushes and toothpaste for each of the bags.

Members of Troops #24010, #24046 and #24047 rasied more than $300 for the Bush-Clinton Tsunami relief fund. They are pictured at a recognition ceremony attended by the two former presidents.

Brownie Troop #5596 made more than 150 greeting cards to submit to the “Cards for Kids Program.” The cards will be taken to orphanages and hospitals in poverty-stricken countries and distributed to children by Airline Ambassadors.

More service minded troops can be found in the Scrapbook section.

The Creekwood Service Unit hosted its annual Father-Daughter Dance on March 19. The beach-themed dance was attended by more than 300 Girl Scouts and their fathers. Profits from the dance were dedicated to Tsunami Relief and a check for $200 was recently presented at the Annual Creekwood Bridging Service at Rummel Creek Elementary School.

Troop #1594 earned the Bronze Award by spending the day with the seniors at Vista Continuing Care in Pasadena. They began the day by attending church services with the residents. The girls made Valentine decorations for each room and spent the morning visiting with the residents. The afternoon was spent playing bingo. The girls are pictured with the stuffed animals they collected to give away at bingo games.

Troop #9138 from Nacogdoches has been busy with a variety of service projects. In September the girls made homemade dog biscuits for local animal shelters. In October they had a material drive at Central Heights High School and local churches to collect material to make heart pillows for the American Cancer Society. During the holidays, they filled stockings for Marines in Iraq, shopped for Christmas dinner for a family at the Nacogdoches Women’s Shelter, and made blankets to be donated to the Binky Patrol in Houston.
