Girl Scouts benefiting the environment
On Earth Day 2005 (April 22), Brownie Girl Scout Troop #7140 (second year Brownies) started a paper-recycling program at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic School. The troop met with the principal to discuss the details. Then, the troop purchased recycle bins and decorated them with handmade signs (using recycled cardboard of course!) A letter was written and signed by each girl in the troop to the staff at St. Clare to communicate the types of paper acceptable for recycling. The troop monitors the bins weekly. Paper is collected and transported to appropriate paper recycling bins in the area.

The girls in the photograph from left to right are Clarissa M.Hannah M., Madelyn W., and Christina S.. Not pictured are Michelle S., Juliette D., Julie S., and Jessica C.
