The Golden Nugget Where common Gold Award beliefs are labeled myth or reality...
Belief 1: Girl Scouts may do a collection for their entire project.

MYTH! A collection is not an acceptable Gold Award Project. However, if a collection is part of a larger Gold Award project that focuses on leadership rather than simply service, then yes she may do a collection. For example, a Girl Scout plans to educate the community about cancer prevention and treatment. As a secondary element, she collects hats for chemotherapy patients from the different organizations she visits to make her educational presentations.

Tour the Girl Scout Center

A trained docent will guide troops through the history of GSSJC as they tour the center at 3110 Southwest Freeway. Visits include participating in a scavenger hunt in the Goodykoontz library and memorabilia room and learning about Juliette Low’s life and interests through the Golden Eaglet, an old fashioned silent movie. Juniors will complete a portion of Girl Scouting in the USA Badge.
