When does Take Note practice?
Rehearsals are usually the second Sunday of the month, from 3-5 p.m. at the GSSJC Office at 3110 Southwest Freeway.

What is the cost?
There is a $20 annual choir fee. Additional expenses include event entry fees, food, and personal spending money. Travel and costume expenses grow as the choir grows.

What do we wear?
That depends upon the activity. Some performances will require a full dress Girl Scout uniform, while other performances will be casual with the Council choir T-shirt and jeans. The main “Take Note” performance outfit is the choir “Take Note” Polo shirt and khaki pants/skirt. Performance shirts are purchased from the choir for $10.

Where do we get a Take Note Council Choir T-shirt?
Choir members receive the choir T-shirt the rehearsal following their audition and payment of all choir fees.

What kind of music will we sing?
Girls begin with two-part Girl Scout songs and based on interest and improving skills, girls progress to more challenging music. Take Note is a cooperative effort of GSSJC and Young Women in Harmony (YWIH). YWIH promotes four-part, a capella singing in the barbershop style and hosts a quartet contest every January around Texas. Girls who are interested are encouraged to recruit three girls and form a quartet. All music is provided. GSSJC quartets are invited to compete.

How are we kept informed?
Choir information is by e-mail to the address given to the coordinator by the choir member. If parents want to be included, simply share your e-mail address with the coordinator. Postcards are also mailed to members in advance of activities.

Where did you sing last year?
Highlights this year included Six Flags AstroWorld, Houston Astros Game, Austin Capitol Singout, Gifts with Heart Holiday Project, Aeros Game, and the Sweet Adelines Concert.

What does Take Note do for fun?
The choir will assist with the summer Council Vocal Explosion girl workshop, and a Summer Music Camp in Austin hosted by the Sweet Adelines. They have performed at past summer Council Harmony Sampler girl workshops, Gold Award receptions, and a GSSJC President’s Reception. All performance opportunity ideas are welcome.
