August 2005 Volume 31 Issue 7

Adult Development Department is proud to announce a new BLT coming soon to your service unit!

Here’s what’s new:

  • A brand new BLT video which will be available in VHS and DVD formats. The new video shows girls in a variety of places and situations – troop meeting, service projects, field trips, camping, developing troop rules, brainstorming for ideas and carrying out their plans. You’ll be energized by their enthusiasm.
  • There’s a new look to Troop Packets. All adults taking Basic Leadership Training will receive a jam-packed Troop Packet containing, among other things:
—“Basic Building Blocks” – the training handout which accompanies the video
—Safety-Wise (a GSUSA publication)
—August issue of The Golden Link
—Copy of the Leader Magazine, a GSUSA publication which is sent quarterly to all registered adults
—Training Record booklet – to keep a record of training courses taken
—Troop CD containing downloadable forms for keeping troop records, camping and trip information, our Council’s Resource                                Guide, ideas to get your troop started, including suggestions for your “First Five Meetings” and much more

Beginning late summer, service units will begin offering the ‘new BLT’ to adults who will be troop/group leaders. Returning leaders will also be receiving a Troop CD at their service unit meeting in the fall.

Here’s what our critics say:
“Two thumbs up!”
“Love those interactive troop forms on the CD”
“I especially liked the helpful hints for troop program.”
“Can’t wait to plan my first five meetings using the suggestions on the CD.”
“Girls in Action throughout the video – way to go!”
Each BLT participant will receive Safety-Wise – I love it!”
