Who is in Take Note?
GSSJC girls who are seventh grade and older who have: shown an interest in singing and
auditioned and agreed to attend rehearsals and performances.

When does Take Note practice?
Rehearsals are usually the second Sunday of the month, 3 –5 p.m. at the Girl Scout Center at 3110 Southwest Freeway.

What do we wear?
Choir members wear Girl Scout uniform at certain performances, casual performances-choir T-shirt and jeans; most performances - choir performance navy polo shirt and khakis.

What kind of music will we sing?
Girls begin with two-part Girl Scout songs. Based on interest and improving skills, girls progress to more challenging music. Take Note is a cooperative effort of GSSJC and Young Women in Harmony (YWIH).YWIH promotes four-part, a capella singing in the barbershop style and host a quartet contest every January in the greater Houston area. Girls who are interested are encouraged to recruit three girls and form a quartet. All music is provided. GSSJC quartets are invited to compete.

How are we kept informed?
Choir information is by e-mail to the address given to the coordinator by the choir member. If parents want to be included, simply share your e-mail address with the coordinator. Postcards are also mailed to members in advance of activities.

December 11 Holiday Singing Event in the Capitol Rotunda, Austin
April 3 or 10 Senior Recognition Event at Camp Agnes Arnold, 2 p.m.

What does it cost?
$20 annual choir fee covers music, supplies, choir T-shirt. Other costs will include personal expenses from registration fees, performance polo shirt, and incidentals.

When are the auditions?
Auditions are Sunday, September 12 at 3 p.m. at the Girl Scout Center. Contact Melinda Gaskill to schedule your time. Note: The next auditions are scheduled for January. These will include sixth graders.
