| Armand Bayou Nature Center Festival Recreates
1890s Farm Life
Armand Bayou Nature Center volunteers will recreate
the sights, sounds, and color of 1890 farm life on the
Texas Gulf Coast at its 23rd annual Martyn Farm Fall
Festival on October 9 and 10, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
both days.
Visitors to the festival will see volunteers dressed
in period costume make syrup from sugar cane, churn
butter, prepare cheese, bail hay, and make soap. Antique
farm tools and implements will also be demonstrated.
Admission for the event will be $7 for adults and $5
for children and seniors. There is no admission charge
for children under 4 years of age.
Armand Bayou Nature Center is located at 8500 Bay Area
Blvd. Parking at nearby University of Houston-Clear
Lake is free including a shuttle ride to the nature
center. On-site nature center parking is $3.
Proceeds from the event will fund the many contributions
the volunteer corps makes to Armand Bayou Nature Center
every year. Volunteers donate more than 10,000 hours
a year to help the nature center complete its mission
of environmental education and preservation of the area’s
ecosystems.
