Nominate someone for an adult recognition
In an effort to recognize truly outstanding contributions by individuals, families, community groups, and corporations, the Council asks for nominations of those who have made major contributions affecting the lives of girls. Tell the Council who they are by completing the appropriate forms and returning them to the Adult Recognitions Committee.

Service Unit Awards require service unit approval. These awards are Membership Numerals, Years of Service Pin, Outstanding Leader, and Outstanding Volunteer-Service Unit.

Membership Numerals indicate total years of registered membership (both girl and adult) in any of the Girl Scout/Girl Guide associations. Numerals are in five-year increments. (Form F-56)

Years of Service Pin recognize an adult member registered with Girl Scouts of the USA for her/his years of active volunteer service at five-year intervals. (Form F-61)

Outstanding Leader Award is for registered troop/group leaders and co-leaders and recognizes outstanding troop leadership qualities in the delivery of Girl Scout program to girls. (Form F-51)

Outstanding Volunteer Award-Service Unit recognizes outstanding service by a registered volunteer other than a leader that benefits a service unit or program delivery unit. (Form F-59)

Council and National Awards require board (or board designee) approval. These awards are: Community Awards, Family Award, Appreciation Pin, Honor Pin, Thanks Badge, Continuing Service Award, Thanks Badge II, Lifetime Achievement Award, President’s Award, and Board of Directors Recognition.

Community Awards are for outstanding support to Girl Scouting from an individual or group. This award is a great way to say thank you to individuals or businesses in your community who support your troop or service unit through sponsorship, small cash donations, or providing a meeting place. The Adult Recognition Committee determines if a certificate, walnut plaque, or laser plaque will be awarded based on magnitude and duration of support and previous community awards received. Individuals or groups receiving this recognition do not have to be registered Girl Scout members. (Form F-116)

The Family Award plaque is presented to a registered Girl Scout family having a profound impact on the lives of girls through Girl Scouting. It is given for service performed by more than one registered adult family member and does not preclude presentation to a single parent family.

Individual recipients of this award will receive a bronze Family Award Pin to wear. (Form F-57)

The Appreciation Pin, a national award, is presented to registered adults who have given outstanding service above the expectations required by the position(s) they have held and delivered to at least one geographic service unit or program delivery audience. (Form F-54)

The Honor Pin, a national award, is presented to registered adults in recognition of exceptional service having a positive influence on the Council goals and activities of young women, delivered to two or more geographic service units or program delivery audiences.
(Form F-54)

The Thanks Badge, a national award, is presented to registered adults in recognition of truly extraordinary service that benefits total Council or Girl Scout Movement. A miniature trefoil pin is awarded to the spouse of the Thanks Badge recipient. (Form F-54)

The Continuing Service Award is presented to registered adults who have given service far beyond the performance required after receiving the Thanks Badge. A “Thank You” grove of trees, a visible reminder of the contributions of persons receiving this award, is maintained at Camp Arnold. (Form F-54)

The Thanks Badge II, a national award, recognizes an adult member who has already received the Thanks Badge, and who has continued to contribute in extraordinary ways that benefit the total Council or the entire Girl Scout Movement. (Form F-54)

The Lifetime Achievement Award, GSSJC’s award for continuing service, recognizes an adult member who has already received the Thanks Badge II and who has continued to contribute in extraordinary ways that benefit the total Council or the entire Girl Scout Movement. (Form F-54)

The President’s Award, a national award, recognizes the efforts of a geographic area team or program delivery team in moving its assigned area or audience toward achievement of the Council’s goals during a fiscal or membership year. Members of the service unit team submit an application for the award to the adult recognition committee documenting completion of the criteria and their results.
