Houston Museum of Natural Science.

GREAT waiting for YOU!

What do REAL female scientists do on a REAL workday? YOU will conduct real experiments and explore real scientific theories with a woman who is active in the science field of your choice. The Careers in Science series is designed to help girls become aware of the career options they have in science by hands-on fun activities and experiments.

Who: Juniors in the 6th grade, Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts
Cost: $17 per girl, adults free and acts as first aider for girls attending

Register: Register on-line at www.hmns.org, click Education then Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts. Payment is due at time of registration.

Min/Max: No minimum, maximum 20 girls.
Due Date: One week before class.
Bring: Lunch, drink, completed medical form/permission slip

Attention all Seniors!
Join Senior Senate

All seniors are welcome. Looking for girls with lots of energy, great ideas, and wanting to be the voice of Senior
Girl Scouts throughout the Council. All meetings will be held on the fourth Sunday of the month from 2-4 p.m. Senior Senate will be planning for the upcoming Teen Weekend in January, and doing service projects throughout the year.

Spooky Science Sleuth Overnight

Investigate science as you get a closer look at your fingerprints, grow your own crystal, dissect the rainbow and more! After dark, explore the Paleontology hall on a special guided flashlight tour. After a fun filled evening of activities see the night sky in the Burke Baker Planetarium before settling down to sleep among the exhibits. Campers (girls only) will receive a HMNS Overnight patch as well as work toward earning the GSUSA Science Sleuth Junior Girl Scout Badge while participating in activities.

Who: Junior Girl Scout troops and chaperones
Due to limited space, group/troops must register a MINIMUM of five girls. Adults must meet
Safety-wise requirement and the HMNS requirements.
Small troop? Consider combining with another small
troop to meet the registration requirements!

When: Friday, October 29, 7 p.m.- Saturday, October 30, 9 a.m.
Where: Houston Museum of Natural Science, free parking for overnight participants in the Museum’s parking garage.

Cost: $40 per camper (girl), $20 per required adult chaperones, absolutely no tag-a-longs; cost includes: program activities, evening snack, breakfast, Planetarium show, admission to the permanent exhibit halls on Saturday, and HMNS Overnight Patches for girls

Register: Program Registration Form, list all campers and adults attending

Bring: GSSJC Form F-204, Form F-185, signed HMNS release and consent forms for each overnight participant, troop first aid kit, toiletries, sleeping bag, and pillow

Note: A complete list of Overnight “Do’s and Don’ts,” Frequently Asked Questions, and the HMNS release and consent form will accompany the registration information packet each group leader will receive prior to the overnight date.
