Archery

Archery instructors wanted

Each year, more than 4,500 girls are served in the weekend bull’s-eye and AIM programs at camps throughout the Council. GSSJC wants every girl to have the opportunity to experience archery, but more certified archery instructors are needed.

What is needed?
Archery is offered most weekends at various camp locations. Bulls-eye sessions are 1.5 hours in duration with a maximum of 16 participants. Instructors are needed to teach sessions from 9 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. at the locations and dates located under Bulls-eye.

How can I become involved?
The Council is offering an opportunity to become a certified Level 1 National Archery Instructor. In addition to teaching other girls throughout the Council, you can also schedule the archery range for your troop and service unit events. Bring lunch, drinks, pencil, and paper. All hours must be taken to receive credit for the course. All participants MUST be 15 years old or older.

Location: Camp Agnes Arnold
Time: Saturday November 20, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
Fee: $65 per person
Event Code: 10-56-08-6246
Deadline: Three weeks prior to the event

Bull’s-eye

Individual and troop archery instruction is offered at Camps Casa Mare, Misty Meadows, Silver Springs, Robinwood, Agnes Arnold, and Whispering Pines. Instruction is based upon individual skills level and prior experience. All instruction takes place on the archery range so dress for the outdoors. This is a perfect activity for a day trip to camp or for camping troops.

The Bull’s-eye program includes a patch or rocker for each girl who participates. If it is a girl’s first time to participate in a Bull’s-eye session she will receive a patch; after that girls receive a rocker to begin to build their own “Bull’s-eye.” Once a troop has participated in the event, contact Nicole McInnes at 713-292-0353 or nmcinnes@sjgs.org to have patches mailed.
