The
Fund Development/Brand Management Department solicits
donations from corporations, foundations, and
individuals to assure that Girl Scouting is available
for all girls and to provide financial means for
Girl Scout programs.
Supporters may honor others in Girl Scouting in
several ways: donations to one of the Council’s
many funds, an engraved brick on the Promise Path
at Camp Agnes Arnold, or a plaque at Camp Casa
Mare. Women may join The Emerald Circle, a social
and service group, which supports Girl Scouting
through its membership fees.
Donate on-line to any of the Council funds at
www.gssjc.org.

Holiday shopping? Give a gift that really
counts
Make your holiday troop meeting
or service unit meeting into a great fundraiser
for Family Partnership. All donations stay within
the Council to help support program, camps, and
financial aid just to name a few. You can give
a gift in honor of your favorite troop leader
or in honor of your daughter. Remember, any time
you make a donation in honor or memory of someone,
a note will be sent to them or their family letting
them know that a gift was made in their name.
Family Partnership Idea: The template at right
can be copied on colored cardstock and attached
to envelopes and hung with clothespins on a giving
tree at your holiday party. Girls can fill an
envelope with their dues for that meeting. Families
can also make contributions. Leaders in turn can
bring their troop donation to the service unit
meeting. Mail or drop off Family Partnership contributions
to the Girl Scout Center, Attn: Iska Wire, 3110
Southwest Freeway, Houston, TX 77098.
Thanks to Alice Bohlae of Twin Oaks Service Unit
for her creation of the Family Partnership Giving
Tree Design and idea!
GSSJC launches online fundraising
campaign |
GSSJC has launched its first
online fundraising initiative. The three-year
“Commit To A Girl” campaign features
a new Web site, www.CommitToAGirl.org, with
information on the challenges girls face locally
and nationally, and opportunities to support
Girl Scouting in Southeast Texas or in any
ZIP code across the United States. “Girl
Scouting helps three million girls develop
confidence, real-life skills and the sense
of citizenship needed to become the nation’s
leaders,” says Kathy Cloninger, CEO
of Girl Scouts of the USA. “It’s
never been more important to commit to girls,
and the online campaign makes it simple to
connect, to give back, and make |
an impact on girls’ lives
today.”
Girl Scouting supports girls and their families
with a proven program. Sixty-four percent
of today’s women leaders in the United
States were Girl Scouts, and 82 percent of
high-achieving Girl Scout alumnae believe
the organization influenced their success,
according to research conducted in 1999 by
Louis Harris & Associates. Today Girl
Scouting reaches girls in communities and
schools nationwide as well as girls in foster
care, girls whose mothers are behind bars,
and girls in juvenile detention.
Visitors to the Web site www.committoagirl.org
can choose to give to Girl Scouts of San Jacinto
Council. They also |
can create their own “Commit To A
Girl” page that can be customized to
honor a loved one, contact old friends, celebrate
a birthday, sign up a book club, reach out
to coworkers or classmates, or even host a
virtual fundraising party. To learn more,
log on to www.CommitToAGirl.org. |
