Girl Scout Scrapbook


Troop #8265 celebrated St. Patrick’s Day at the opening of The Woodlands Waterway Bridge. They watched Irish dancing, had a Irish-themed picnic, made Girl Scouts friendship pins, received lots of “gold” and balloons from the Leprechaun.


Brownie Troop #11113 put together 16 Easter baskets for the DePelchin Center. Girls purchased items and arranged the baskets themselves. The baskets were distributed to children in foster care and other children in need of a little Easter cheer.


Daisy Troop #17010 of Mason Creek Service Unit worked on earning the Magenta Petal – Respect Authority. Girls made a poster with pictures of President Bush, their school teachers and principal, Girl Scout leaders, pediatrician, etc. and had a discussion about authority figures. Officer Jaime Giraldo visited in full uniform (the father of one of the troop members) to help the girls understand what police officers do and why they are our friends.


Deer Park Troop #1475 planted and decorated a garden for the Happy Kiddo’s kindergarten class at San Jacinto Elementary School. The troop purchased soil, plants, and decorations for the kindergarten classroom garden. The class was studying plants and how they grow.


Troop #6432 made special shirts for a trip to the Houston Zoo.


Troop #2027 made homemade cookies for the families of the Columbia Shuttle Astronauts on the day of the anniversary of the disaster.


Troop #10864 took a pontoon boat ride a service unit camping trip to Camp Olympia on Lake Livingston.


Troop #6189 in Orange enjoyed making comfort blankets for children with cancer. They are also working full speed on the Silver Award and a summer trip to Savannah.


Troop #5749 have fun earning the Sounds of Music Try-it by making shoebox guitars.


Junior Troop #5951 helped Brownie Troop #5477 work on itsr bridging requirements by helping them earn the Puzzler Badge.


Troop #6048 made baby blankets to send to an orphanage in Mexico.


Troop #11226 gets ready to camp overnight by spending a Saturday at Camp Robinwood. They learned how to build a fire, take care of a tent, and clean a latrine. They also went paddle boating on Lake Ann.


Brownie Troop #9129 performed a community service project and completed a requirement for the Animals Try-It by donating items that they collected for the Nacogdoches Animal Shelter.


Cadette Troop #5298 from Copper Corners Service Unit took a trip to the Civil Courts Building during Spring Break. Girls visited Judge Lamar McCorkle (133rd District Court) in the morning who gave them an overview of how the Civil Court System worked and then gave them a tour of his chambers. Each person on his staff explained their job and how they fit into the big picture. Judge McCorkle was not having a trial that day so he spent a lot of time with the girls answering questions and educating them on the courts system. The afternoon was spent with Judge Patricia Hancock (113th District Court). Court was in session in her courtroom so the girls were introduced as “distinguished guests” and allowed to sit in the audience during the trial. Judge Hancock took the girls back to her chambers and talked to them about how she became a lawyer and then a judge. She also made sure the girls saw that she had two partially eaten boxes of Girl Scout Cookies on her desk. They were Thin Mints and Lemon Pastry Cremes. The girls had a wonderful time and finished up most of the Law and Order Patch.


Junior Troop #10539 toured the Melcher Center for Public Broadcasting at the University of Houston. Girls saw how a TV production is put together, worked a TV camera, worked the editing board, and recorded their voices on a radio broadcast.


Area Park. They had the opportunity to view snakes in their natural environment as well as many other kinds of animals. It was a lot of work but, according to the Scouts they will think twice about littering and respect our earth even more.


Junior Troop #1594 hosted Brownie Troop #1599 to a Visual Arts Badge Workshop to help them complete some of their bridging steps and for the Juniors to earn the Junior Aide Patch


Troop #5203 held a Me and My Guy event at Camp Silver Springs. They went on a treasure hunt, built a bird house, played field games, made a frame for their photo with their special guy and roasted
marshmallows for banana boats and s’mores.


Troop #5203 celebrated a great cookie sale by having dinner. The troop sold 1,812 packages. They are going to use their cookie bonus money to have a sleep over on Battleship Texas and tour the San Jacinto Monument.


Shining Waters Service Unit had a tea party on Valentines Day. A ceremony was held to present the Silver Award to Kristi D. and Vanessa L. of Troop #6106. J.C. Penney’s provided fashions for a style show of Victorian attire.


Troop #11226 learned the meaning behind the parts for the World Trefoil Pin in a pin ceremony for World Thinking Day.


Troop #9027 from Pine Tree Service Unit donates gifts for children in the Joaquin area.


Troop #11226’s Co-Leader Donna Ellison and her niece Katherine Laake compare SWAPS received at the Smile S’more Leader/Daughter Weekend.

Brittany, Jacinda, Cristina, Ashley, Jessica, Catherina, Callie, Sarah, and Dahlia from Brownie Troop #8082 spent a fun-filled day at Camp Robinwood. Girls played games and relaxed.
