CHILDREN’S HILLTOP THEATRE FESTIVAL Express Theatre will present a free performance of Robin Hood at
11 a.m. Friday, July 23 at Miller Outdoor Theatre in Hermann Park in Houston. Actors present the tale in high style with music, laughter, and mayhem as they teach lessons of loyalty, heroism, and friendship. The program will last no longer than an hour. TREAT YOURSELF TO TUTS Theatre Under the Stars is offering Girl Scouts and their families a 30% discount group rate on tickets to the 2 p.m. matinee of Oliver on June 12 at the Hobby Center for Performing Arts in the Houston Downtown Theater District. Girl Scouts are asked to wear their uniforms, Girl Scout vests or some type of Girl Scout insignia to the show and will be recognized from the stage.

GIRLS ARE INVITED TO A TEA PARTY The Varner-Hogg Plantation in West Columbia is hosting a birthday tea party on July 10 for young girls in honor of Miss Ima Hogg, daughter of J.S. Hogg, the first native-born Governor of Texas. There will be activities and refreshments on the front porch of the historic home Miss Ima lived in from 1901-1956. All girls and their mothers or adult friends are welcome to this free event. The party is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tours of the mansion will be available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; admission fees of $4 for adults and $2 for students apply. There will be homemade ice cream and lemonade demonstrations from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on August 1 at the plantation. Volunteers will demonstrate the making of these summertime treats as it was done in the olden days.
