Summer Leadership Days

Junior August 5, and Teen Advisor July 10

Time: Check in begins at 8 a.m.
First course begins promptly at 8:30 a.m.
Fee: $3 for each day;

Place: Girl Scout Center, 3110 SW Freeway
Bring: Lunch, Training record booklet. Soft drink and snack machine are available.
Deadline: Two weeks prior to training.
Register early! Classes subject to cancellation without minimum enrollment.

Brownie Summer Leadership Day

Want a day filled with trainings just for adults who work with Brownie age girls? Whether you will be
a new Brownie leader in the fall or an experienced leader, you will surely find a training to fit your needs.
Take advantage of this special summer training day just for Brownie leaders.

Brownie Program Leadership
Learn about working with Brownie-age girls, the Brownie Ring (troop government), try-its, and other program activities. Required for Brownie leadership and beneficial for other interested adults as well.
Prerequisite: Basic Leadership Training
Bring: The Guide for Brownie Girl Scout Leaders, Brownie Girl Scout Handbook, Try-its for Brownie Girl Scouts, Safety-Wise

Brownie Enriched Leadership Program
Enrich your troop’s program experience by reviewing characteristics of the 8 to 9 year-old girl. Learn to encourage girl problem-solving, prepare for bridging to Juniors, and share ideas with trainers and other experienced leaders.
Prerequisite: Basic Leadership Training, Brownie Program – Leadership and one year experience working with Brownies

Overnights, Not Campouts!
Lots of troops prefer to have an overnight sleepover before (or instead of) trying the great out-of-doors, but an overnight still needs planning to be fun. Learn some creative ways to make it more than just another slumber party. #4698; 9-10:30 a.m.

We All Have Belly-Buttons
Learn activities that will help girls respect their differences as Girl Scouts, celebrate diversity, promote pluralism, and learn to get along in a changing world.

Ceremonies for Brownies
Learn the purpose and importance of Girl Scout Ceremonies. Workshop includes ideas for flag ceremonies, investitures, bridging, Scouts’ Own, and more. Take away new ideas to share with girls as they plan programs. #4700; 1-2:30 p.m.

Crafts for Brownies
Learn safety tips for doing crafts with Brownie age girls. Get new ideas and hands-on experience with crafts for Brownies.

First Steps in Outdoor Exploration
An introduction to beginning outdoor experiences. Explore the resources available - not only in the Council, but also in the community. Familiarize yourself with outdoor basics, such as what to wear, outdoor manners, and walking softly on the land. Learn what steps to take and in what order, how to plan a day outdoors both on and off Council property as well as the forms needed to do that.

Songs and Games for Brownies
For all members of the leadership team and any interested adults. Learn song selections geared for youthful voices at your troop meeting. Have fun while you learn games that girls this age will enjoy. #4701; 1-2:30 p.m.
