CPR/AED FOR THE
PROFESSIONAL RESCUER

(Ages 15 and up and adults)
This course teaches professional rescuers the skills needed to respond to respiratory and cardiac emergencies on a daily basis (lifeguards, fire fighters, police, nurses, EMTs or anyone else interested). It includes rescue breathing, choking, and CPR for infants, children and adults as well as two-person CPR and alternate airway management. The new AED module will be offered.

FUNDAMENTALS OF
INSTRUCTOR TRAINING

(Ages 17 up and adults)
This course teaches theories of learning, teaching tips, history and procedures of the Red Cross. All persons desiring to become a Red Cross instructor must take this prerequisite course.

FIRST AID/CPR/AED and
BABY-SITTING INSTRUCTOR

(Girls ages 17 and up and adults)
This course trains instructor candidates to teach any of the First Aid courses Red Cross offers. The courses teach you how to teach the students by developing an understanding of use of the course materials, how to conduct training sessions, and the methods used to evaluated student progress, and how to prepare and submit records and reports. A written and practical skills test is a required prerequisite. It is highly suggested that you update your skills by attending CPR/FA/

AED class and or reviewing the materials taught in the class.

PREREQUISITES:

  • Current within one year FUNdamentals of Instructor Training (FIT) Certificate OR current health and safety instructor authorization in another area.
  • Current within three years first aid certificate or equivalent skills
  • Current within one year infant, child, and adult CPR certificate or equivalent skills

NOTE: Prerequisites are offered at camp the day before class.
TEXT: All materials provided at class, except basic level books, which you should bring to class. It you desire to teach Community First Aid and Safety and/or Sports Safety Training bring those books.

BABY-SITTING
(Ages 11 and up)
Trained baby-sitters are always in demand. Portions of the Child Care Interest Project Patch and Caring for Children Badge are covered. This course teaches how to handle emergencies, prevent accidents, and the knowledge for competent baby-sitting practices. Students will learn job hunting skills. Some first aid and rescue breathing skills are included.

BABY-SITTING SPECIAL
(Girls ages 11 and up)
This two-day class combines the Baby-sitting class with a First Aid course. Portions of the Childcare Interest Project Patch and Caring for Children and First Aid badges are covered. This course teaches girls how to handle emergencies, prevent accidents, and the knowledge for competent babysitting practices. Students will also learn job hinting skills to help them find a babysitting job. In addition you will complete the Community First Aid and Safety course. This course trains individuals to act in emergency situations and to recognize and care of life threatening respiratory or cardiac emergencies in infants, children, and adults. It includes rescue breathing, choking and CPR. General Standard First Aid information and skills are also covered.
