Houston Food Bank Wrap-up

Over 451 Girl Scouts, troop leaders, and parents participated in the two Scouting for Food days offered in October 2003 at the Houston Food Bank.
Girls experienced the Houston Food Bank in a variety of ways: packaging rice, touring the facility (even the cold freezers), and learning about nutrition. Each girl received an event patch and other goodies from the Houston Food Bank staff.
Girl Scouts bagged a total of 14,090 pounds of rice during the two Saturday events, and girls donated 1,113 pounds of food. With 940 volunteer hours completed, Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council made a positive impact on the Houston Food Bank.
