Making a Career Decision

This is your opportunity to visit the lovely University of Houston campus and speak with female professionals in a variety
of careers. This event will open up new windows to explore as
girls build their futures.

  • Earn GSUSA recognitions
  • Write or update personal resume
  • Participate in a service project.
  • Learn about opportunities available for a brilliant future

Senior Girl Scouts will learn about University of Houston’s specialized programs such as engineering, physical sciences (geology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, etc.), medical/biological sciences (e.g. optometry, pharmacy, biology, bioengineering), business and hotel and restaurant management, education, visual and performing arts, humanities, social sciences, law, and more. They will spend extra time honing in on one of four possible careers. Look for options in the confirmation letter for girls to select and return prior to the event.

When: Saturday, February 14;
9 a.m. - noon, Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts
Noon - 2 p.m., Career Upclose for Seniors
Where: University of Houston Architecture Building
Cost: $10/morning session only
$12/Senior Girl Scout attending morning and additional afternoon session
Safety-Wise ratio of adults free
Troop certified first aider serves troop during event

  • Earn the new Our Own Council’s Interest Project created for this event.
  • Learn how women are becoming a greater part of this industry.

Where: Camp Casa Mare, Seabrook
Cost: $7/girl; Safety-Wise ratio of adults free

Girls have an opportunity to participate in a service project for the local Houston International Seaman’s Center. Place any toiletry items like soap, shampoo, razor, deck of cards, toothpaste, toothbrush inside a sock and tie them together. Chaplin Ben Stewart shares that this is a great project for crew members from foreign countries that are detained onboard due to customs regulations.
