THE TROUPE WANTS YOU!

Join the coolest troupe in town! The Council Puppetry Troupe wants all girls in fifth grade and above to consider becoming a Council puppeteer. This year the troupe has added a whole new set of puppets, the Neighborhood Crew, to the already well-known Kids on the Block puppets. Council puppeteers are now writing skits to be used with these new faces. If performing or writing is something you enjoy, attend the January workshop.

Share A Story

Girl Scouts may earn a special Kappa Delta/GSSJC Share A Story Patch by completing three simple steps:

  • Write and illustrate a storybook.
  • Read their storybook to another group.
  • Donate their storybook to BOOKS Ben Taub or a group of the girl’s choice.

Some troop activities
Read a well illustrated story: Find a short, interesting storybook with creative illustrations to read aloud to the girls.

Teach story-telling techniques: These skills help girls to remember to include in their stories interesting characters, fast paced plot, etc. Skills include: eye contact; posture; movement; enthusiasm; pace; diction; volume; pitch; and positive interaction with the group.

Create a troop story: Either the group or the first person can decide the topic. Each girl takes her turn to create a part of the story.
