Troop #4123 chose the Houston SPCA for its service project last year. The troop completed the Stitch it Together Try-it by sewing pillows for cats at the SPCA, decorated posters of their donation boxes, and learned mor about dogs and exotic animals. The troop then toured the SPCA, brought their donations, and each girl chose a cat to give their homemade pillow to.

Troop #5788 participated in the Race for the Cure. The troop is from Hempstead, so they decided to stay overnight in a Galleria hotel. After the walk the troop still had energy to go shopping at The Galleria

St. Francis held a Red, White, and Blue Celebration on November 4. Brownies from the school, 44 in total, participated in the flag corps.

Brownie Troop #2126 from St. Vincent de Paul painted bandanas as part of the “Art to Wear” Try-it. The yellow bandanas are now used on field trips to keep a visual link among all the girls without using their uniforms.

Brownie Troop #7289 visited Dewberry Farms in November. The girls enjoyed hay rides, tractor train rides, corn mazes, duck races, seeing animals, and a hot dog dinner at a campfire.


Junior Troop #4760 put together stockings for the Women’s Shelter in Houston. The girls ironed the words on the stockings, had fun making the stockings, and were excited about giving them to the shelter.


Junior Troop #5284 showed its community spirit by assisting at an event to help out a family with a seriously injured teenager.


Troop #5284 visited Carraige Inn, a retirement center in Katy. Girls made cards to distribute to the 60 residents.


Troop #5203 got in touch with nature at Camp Misty Meadows last fall. Troop members rode horses, swam, and hiked during their camping weekend.

Troop #4123 had a fun day at Hermann Park Stables completing the Just Horsin’ Around Try-it. Each girl was taught the safe way to ride a horse, how to car for a horse, what tools are used in grooming, and many other equestrian fun facts. All the girls had a great time and many would like to pursue riding lessons to become better riders. The girls are posing with the horse Gordon and Ms. Helen from the stables.

Junior Girl Scouts of Troop #9052 voted to help the Nacogdoches Animal Shelter with whatever they were needing the most which was old blankets and towels for the animals. The girls voted unanimously to begin collecting towels and blankets to donate. The girls collected items for a month and donated over 100 blankets and towels to the shelter.


Junior Troop #9052 of Nacogdoches voted to have a toy drive for St. Vincent De Paul Society. St. Vincent De Paul is an organization that helps needy families in the Nacogdoches area with food, clothing, and toys. On November 17, each girl brought several toys and set up “toy shops” within their own patrols. They decorated their shops and displayed the toys nicely. After all the toy shops were set up the girls proceeded to take turns choosing one toy they could take home. The remaining toys were boxed up and donated.

Seventh graders from Troop #2045 presented 35 fleece “comfort pillows” to the Children’s Assessment Center in December. The service project completed the final requirement for earning the Bronze Award. Most children coming the CAC are being removed from an abusive home and will be placed immediately with a foster family. “They come with nothing. Many of these children have had no choices in life, but will be allowed to choose their very own pillow. For them to receive something so clean, so new, soft, and cheery, especially from another child is very special,” said Robyn Howard, director of Community Outreach.


Troop #12038 toured Spring Branch Medical Center and learned how to keep patients safe from germs.


Troop #16004 donated over 50 books to Cy-Fair Medical Center’s Pediatric Floor.


Troop #12669 worked on its Winter Sports Badge at Sun & Ski. Girls learned about the different types of skiing, how to find the right size and type of ski to use, along with several warm up exercises to do before hitting the slopes.


Troop #1164 plants another tree at a local park to replace the tree they planted a year earlier for Earth Day.
